New things

As you can see, I've changed the idea of 'Beyond the Boundary'. Here I will be posting some comments on things that interest me and recent publications.

First of all, I just published an article, called 'The Problems of Heathenry', here. The reactions that came from this article, urged me to start a blog, to keep those who are interested posted and just keep some notes on interesting events and articles.

Also, I've got an upcoming article in Pentacle Magazine (another one) called 'Shape Shifting and the Soul', which explores beliefs surrounding shape shifting in Old Norse Literature and Medieval Witchcraft.

I am currently working on another essay called 'God, Sorcerer, Shaman', which examines the shamanic elements in the mythology surrounding Óðinn. When that is finished I will have to work on the Second Part of The Problems of Heathenry, which will look for the justifications of racism within Heathen lore and modern thought. Also, it will provide a more informed perspective on the extreme right and nationalist populism, than most internet site, who are “against racism”.

"...no real protection offered by the police, that is, the state. This gives rise to the ‘code of the street’ that means that every man has to show and demonstrate his willingness to use violence to protect himself...." this also operates in high schools. when my dtr. was attending a local school (not so long ago), she figured out early on that the only way to prevent bullying/hazing from others was to mark a clear boundry. so, at the beginning of every school year, she would wait until there was a large audience (of new students) & then freak out over an insignificance (disrespect, being pushed, etc.)--stark, raving, apesh8t crazy. since everyone knows that one never messes with a person crazier than themselves, she was left alone for the rest of the school year. btw, i am greatly looking forward to part 2 of the article.

Genuinely looking forward to the follow up essay. Don't let yourself be discouraged: time is approaching when rational, analytical thought and reflection will become more respected in Neopagan circles. Let's hope we don't loose our theologians and philosophers. I am religious studies student and I've had trouble with many, many blindly accepted and promoted suppositions in Neopaganism. Ethnical, racialist reconstructionism is one of those.

I was just wondering if you know about a Yahoo group called Tablet of Destiny? It is a scholarly group with alot of recons there although they accept beginners and other sorts of pagans. I really don't mean to sound like an advert here but I think you would like the group and there is alot of sensible debate in there to.

I found your blogs by accident but I am glad that I did. I read your book Hedge Rider whilst reading another so I am rereading it again now. I like it. I have mainly only ever studied traditional witchcraft because I don't like any wiccan books I have read. This is because they try to dumb the subject up to much, make it new agey and introduce modern concpets such as pc into the religion which actually have nothing to do with what I can gather wicca is meant to be anyway. That is why I always enjoy reading materail like yours as it is intelligent, researched, you have not made it up as you go along a la modern wicca, it is rational and analytical. Don't let the white lighters put you off. I just read Dark Paganism by John Coughlin. It was a like a breath of fresh air reading sensible materail on the pagan paths and the so called darker side. It is just a shame that there aren't more books like his and yours and others of the same type on the pagan market today. Much appreciated
